Ivan Matthew Byers

Ivan Matthew Byers passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 84.  He was born on Wednesday, June 1, 1932, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to the late Alton and Dallie Lenel Byers and was a lifelong resident of Bedico. Ivan loved gardening and worshiping at the Bedico Church of God and being with his family and friends.  

Ivan is survived by his brother, James Byers and his wife Elaine of Bedico; his nieces and their families, Donna Driver of Acworth, Georgia, Colleen Crain of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Rose Forrester of Pensacola, Florida; as well as his nephews and their families, Justin Byers, Mark Byers, Whitney Granger all of Bedico, and John Byers of Lima, Ohio; as well as the family of his late nephew Paul Byers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Dallie Lenel Byers; sister, Vilere Davis and her husband George; five brothers, Lee, Amos, Emory, Clarence and his wife Jerry Byers; and nephew, Paul Byers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Church of God Bedico, 28336 Highway 22, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm.  Pastor Pete Petry will officiate and interment will follow in Morse Cemetery in Bedico.
