Horace Marceaux, Sr., age 89, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his home in Ponchatoula, LA, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 28, 1931 in Kaplan, LA and raised in Morgan City. During the Korean Conflict, he chose to enlist and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged, returned home where he met and married the love of his life and began his family and career as a purchasing agent. In 1970 the family moved to Metairie where he continued his career. Â Following Hurricane Katrina, he and his wife relocated with their family to the welcoming community of Ponchatoula, LA.
Most of Horaceâs career was spent with McDermott International Corporation in Bayou Boeuf and Universal Services, an offshore provision's supplier in New Orleans where he retired.
Horace was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Ponchatoula. His family and friends will remember him well for his great love of the Lord. Anyone that knew him enjoyed his punny humor and great love of music. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening, and he passed the love of all these hobbies onto his children and grandchildren.
Horace, âBampaw", as he was lovingly known by his family, was survived by his wife of 65 years, Flora Ann Dupuis; son and daughter-in-law, Horace "Johnny" Marceaux, Jr. and Heidi; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Marceaux; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph "Joey" Marceaux and Christi; grandchildren, Horace "Trey" Marceaux, III, Louis "Jojo" Marceaux and wife Melissa, Sophie Gentile and husband Angelo, Penny Marceaux, Alexis Marceaux, Nathan Marceaux and wife Katherine, Olivia Marceaux Graziano and husband Michael, and Taylor Marceaux and her fiancé Joseph Bougere; great-grandchildren, Emmett Marceaux, Madeline Marceaux, Margot Graziano. Horace is further survived by his brother, Rodney Marceaux, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oglady Marceaux and Eula Mae Guidry Marceaux; his brother, Iry Marceaux, Sr.; and sister, Autherine (Rena) Canty.
Celebration of life will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday, March 13, 2021. The recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:30 am, visitation begins at 10am with an inspirational service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm. Deacon Larry Melancon will be officiating, and a military ceremony will follow.
Face masks are mandatory to attend any visitation or service, and we ask that you maintain a respectful distance with the family.
