Tsgt Herman Finley Allshouse was born on October 16, 1938 in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania to Burt and Ruth Allshouse. He was married to his loving wife, Susie, for 58 years. They had eight children, nine grand children and six great grand children. Herman and Susie were devoted foster parents for over 37 years.

Herman was a decorated veteran and served 23 years in the Navy and Air Force. He joined the Navy when he was just 16 years old. Herman traveled the world and enjoyed time with his military buddies. He received many awards including the Air Force Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service medal, and the Medal of Honor while in the services. He worked as a jet engine mechanic, a medical administrative supervisor, and retired from the Corps of engineers. Herman served his country in the Vietnam war and Cuban War. Herman was a very intelligent man and loved to read. He loved God, dogs, and his family. He was a devout Catholic.

God called Herman home to be an angel in His army on September 9, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patty, grandson Chad, and great grandson Gauge. His family is very saddened and heartbroken, but it will be a great day when they all meet again. He will be missed by all.

Services honoring Herman’s life will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana.
