Helena was born March 27, 1928, in Jefferson Parish, LA to the late Edward A. and Antoinette Mary Kenny Masset and passed away September 22, 2021, in Tangipahoa Parish at the age of 93.  Helena was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Albany, LA, a member of over 30 years of the Catholic Daughters of America, Hammond chapter and also a member of St. Jude’s Society.  Helena served as president of the Ladies Auxillary of Amvets of Springfield for seven terms and  as president of the Ladies Auxillary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars for ten years. She is survived by her children, Mary W. Storey (Tony), Emile A. Whitaker, III, Susan W. Asaro (Robert J.), Donna W. Wallace, Terri W. Pritchett, Ginger M. Landry, and Mark S. Whitaker; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Emile Anthony Whitaker, Jr.; brother, John H. Masset; and two sisters, Laura Faust and Dorothy Mentel.  Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, LA, Friday, September 24, 2021, from 8:30 am until 10:30 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Albany, LA.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes.
