Helen Salassi Smith Parmelee Reese joined her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2021.  She was born in the community of Bayou Barbary, Louisiana, on August 21, 1935, to the late Lloyd and Bertha Salassi.  She was a graduate of French Settlement High School, where she served as a cheerleader, and Spencer Business College. She was a lifelong member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Helen retired from City National Bank after thirty years of service and then served as a Kindergarten teacher at Fundamental Baptist School.  She was an avid gardener who was always willing to share fresh cucumbers and tomatoes with family and friends.  She also greatly enjoyed reading and will be remembered by those closest to her as strong-minded and quick-witted.  Above all, Helen loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by surviving daughters and sons-in-law: Rhonda Martin and husband Tommy, Terri Vicknair and husband John, Marianne Curet and husband Mark; six grandchildren: Matthew Martin and wife Kayla, Blake Martin and wife Amanda, Kari Vicknair, Amy Whittington and husband Billy, Katie Causey and husband Jared, Casey Curet and fiancé Alyssa Leger; and twelve great-grandchildren:  Buddy, Carter, Amelia, and Bayleigh Whittington; Ella, Abby, and Avery Martin; Ashley, Melissa, and Bryan Vicknair; Brooks and Christian Causey.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Johnny Salassi; husband of fifteen years, Edwin Smith; husband of six years, Don Parmelee; husband of thirty-five years, Tommy Reese; and stepson, Dana Parmelee.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the Funeral Service begins at 3:00 pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 21947 LA-444, Livingston, La. 70754.

Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Livingston, Louisiana.

Her family would like to extend special thanks Gwen and Kayla with Modern Hospice of Hammond and Mrs. Judy Baldwin for their excellent care.
