Helen Janey Howell Jenkins

Helen Janey Howell Jenkins was born August 6, 1957, in Independence, and passed away October 25, 2023, in Hammond at the age of 66.  She was a homemaker and a resident of Tickfaw.  Helen is survived by her husband, Leroy Jenkins; sons, Bruce Jenkins (Chée), and Gary Jenkins (Kelly), brother, David Earl Howell (Vanessa); sisters, Thelma Garner and Callie Reid; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; step son, Kevin Wayne Jenkins; step daughters, Eva Ridgedell and Brenda Gayle Carter; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her father, Jonnie Howell; mother, Myrtle Granger Howell, brothers, John “Bud” Howell, Earnie Howell, and Frank Howell; sisters, Annise McLin, and Judy Dunn, and a son, Adam Jenkins.  She attended New Life Ministries.  Visitation will be at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Friday, November 3, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until funeral services at 12:00 p.m.  Following services, Helen will be buried next to her son, Adam, in Briar Patch Cemetery, Loranger.  Pallbearers will be Tyler Jenkins, Aaron Jenkins, Bowen Soulier, David Allen Howell, James “Jamie” Howell, Bryce Horn, and Drake Howell.  Family and friends are invited for food and fellowship following the burial at Oak Grove Church of Christ, 16693 Highway 40 East, Independence, 70443.
