Harry George Lerch, a resident of Loranger, LA, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on, Wednesday, December 4, 2019, surrounded by family. Â He was born October 24, 1936, in Indian Town Gap, Pennsylvania to Ephraim and Cora Lerch, and was 83 years of age.
He was a dedicated husband and father. Â He served in the U. S. Army for 3 years and then retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 33 years. Â He enjoyed working at Quinnâs Texaco in Hammond for 8 years and the Ponchatoula Feed Store for 26 years. Â Harry enjoyed singing with the Masterâs Quartet, Joyerâs Quartet and the Just For Fun Band.
On February 14, 1960, Harry married the love of his life, Marleen Faust Lerch at the Loranger United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Marleen Faust Lerch, and three children: Â Dayna D. Lerch, George âBuddyâ (Debbie) Lerch and Cynthia (Henry) Schilling; four grandchildren: Â Christopher (Calie) Lerch, Megan Lerch, Jeremy and Zachary Schilling; one great-grandson, Callen Lerch; brothers Paul, John and Carl Lerch, sister Anna Lerch Wertz and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Ephriam and Cora Lerch; brothers Howard, Raymond, and Allen Lerch; sisters Margaret Lerch Sattesahn, Irene Lerch Troutman, Ruth Lerch Hostetter.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, December 6, 2019, at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, beginning at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue the following day, December 7, 2019, beginning at 12:00 PM until the funeral service begins at 2:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Lanier Cemetery, Loranger, Louisiana.
Services will be conducted by Shannon Dinger & Pastor Ray Varnado.
