In the wee hours of the morning on February 21, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Kay Short in Ponchatoula, LA Gwendolyn Vyrine Brown Cooper was escorted by God's angels to her eternal mansion. Beautiful, sweet, loving and above all a faithful servant of God describes this precious woman. She supported all her family, fraternal sisters and brothers and friends with prayers and love from her caring heart.

Jerrie as she was affectionately known was born with her twin sister, Jimmie on April 15, 1933 in New Orleans, LA to Prosper and Ruby Brown and was later adopted by Thomas and Marie Raiford. During her almost 89 years of a blessed life she experienced living on a strawberry farm, attending school in Ponchatoula, graduating from Istrouma High in Baton Rouge, marrying her handsome George Allen and having children, grandchildren, great grand children and a great great grandson. After Jerrie retried as a cosmetologist she enjoyed camping in Mississippi with her family and friends. Her hobbies included reading, decorating, making flower arrangements and cooking for everyone she loved.

Jerrie was initiated into Fern Leaf Chapter No. 24 Order of Eastern Star on May 24, 1982. She served as Worthy Matron with Harrold Quave, Past Grand Patron of

Louisiana in 1986 and with George Allen Cooper Jr. in 2000. She was the chapter's treasurer from 2006 to 2022.

This Momma and Maw Maw Jerrie left behind a legacy of unconditional love and the power of prayer. Wonderful memories will be cherished within the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

Jerrie is survived by her daughters Deborah Gwen Jones (Bobby), Pamela Kay Short (Gary) and Martha Himel Cooper (surviving spouse of George Allen Cooper, Jr.); fourteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and one great great grandson; her twin sister, Jimmie Levet and numerous nieces and nephews. And lastly her fur baby, Moppett. Preceded in death by her husband, George Allen Cooper Sr., son, George Allen Cooper Jr., parents, Proper and Ruby Brown, Thomas and Marie Raiford, and her brother, Linton Bud Brown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life of Jerrie Cooper at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, LA on Friday, February 25, 2022. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. followed by the service at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Cooper Cemetery in Ponchatoula.

We acknowledge with thankfulness the part she played in all our lives. We cannot think of her without a sense of grief and loss, yet there is joy in knowing she has been received by our heavenly Father and is in His loving care.
