Gus Joseph Coniglio passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 95. He was born on September 20, 1929 in Independence, Louisiana to the late Lena Canzoneri Coniglio and the late Sam August Coniglio. He was a resident of Holden, Louisiana. Gus was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was an 18-wheeler driver for Matlack Trucking for 27 years. He loved to spend his time fishing, working in his vegetable garden, dancing, and watching old western movies.
Gus is survived by his daughters, Lena Bryant & husband, James, Debbie Langlois & husband, David; brother, Tony Coniglio & wife, Billie Jean; sister, Felicie Passalaque; grandchildren, Christina Lagarosse & husband, Sean, Jason Schaefer & wife, Nicole, and Dallas Johnson; great-grandchildren, Abigail Lagarosse, Aubrie Lagarosse, Anna Lagarosse, Iliana Schaefer, and Elijah Crawford.
In addition to his parents, Gus is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Coniglio; son, Sam Joseph Coniglio; daughter, Patricia Lynn Johnson; and granddaughter, Courtney Marie Johnson.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Landmark South Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided our father.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Friday, May 23, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 1:00 PM.
Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery, Independence, Louisiana.
