Gregory Allen Waddell

Gregory Allen Waddell went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 13,2021 at the age of 70 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Allen Clyde Waddell and Janice Grizzle Waddell, and his brother Geary Lee Waddell.

Gregg was married to his loving wife, Janet Louviere Waddell for 46 years. He is survived by his two children: Allen Gregory Waddell (Elizabeth), Lauren Waddell Williams (Rod) and his honorary Daughter Bonnie Garcia Greiner (Kris); his two grandchildren: Tenley Cameron Waddell (7) and Crew Allen Waddell (Due January 2022), brother, Donald Waddell (Patricia) and sister, Melissa Waddell Traylor (James "Spot").

Gregg was born January 24, 1951 in Shreveport, LA to his parents Allen Clyde Waddell and Janice Grizzle Waddell. Gregg graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1969 and then Southeastern Louisiana University in 1973. While at Southeastern he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Gregg met his beloved wife, Janet, in 1972 at Southeastern Louisiana University and they were married on May 30, 1975.  During the fall of 1973, Gregg began his professional career with Ford Motor Company in Metairie and then later Cincinnati, Ohio. After a 10-year career with Ford Motor Company, Gregg purchased Gateway Ford in Ponchatoula, LA in 1983.  Gregg has owned and operated Gateway Ford from 1983 until today. Gregg was an active member of the community serving as a member of Kiwanis, the Wetmore Cemetery board, and donated over a million dollars to local charities, organizations, and community events during his career. Gregg and his wife Janet have been charter members of Westside Baptist Church in Ponchatoula since 1983, where served as a deacon for over 30 years.

Gregg was an avid Sports fan, supporting Southeastern Louisiana University, Local High School Athletics, and Ponchatoula and Hammond Recreational Sports.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue at Westside Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will be held at Westside Baptist Church, 40375 W I-55 Service Rd., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Tuesday at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Wetmore Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Westside Baptist Church.
