On July 25, 2019, Grace Arnold Mapes went to be with her Lord and Savior.
She was a native of Bedico, the eldest child of eight children of Sam and Vivian Arnold. She graduated from Ponchatoula High and later married the love of her life, Leey Mapes. Together, they shared a wonderful life; raising three children while still making time for their shared hobby...Traveling! Grace was a dedicated Christian who put God first and illustrated the essence of a Servant's Heart. She was an active member of Robert Church of God. She was a homemaker, seamstress, licensed beautician, the Best cook, and most importantly, a mother who lived for her children and grandchildren, alike. Our Family's Matriarch will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Merl) Fagan; sons, Karl (Jenny) Mapes and Thomas (Jodie) Mapes; grandchildren, Laura (Roger) Gill, Christopher Fagan, Karl Mapes, Jr., Kyle Mapes, Brantley Mapes, and Britton Mapes; great grandchildren, Dayne (Gary) Commander, Chasen Gill, and Ambar Fagan; great great grandchildren, Cambre Grace Commander and Brock Commander; sisters, Jerelean Naramore and Carol Martinson; brothers, Travis Arnold, Otis Arnold, and Eddy Arnold; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leey Mapes; parents, Sam and Vivian Arnold; sister, Althea Perrin; brother, Deward Lee Arnold; and an infant grandson.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W.
