Gordon Boswell, III

Gordon Boswell III, passed away peacefully at his home in Hammond, Louisiana on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the age of 74. He was born on Friday, July 29, 1949, in Urania, Louisiana, to the late Gordon Boswell Jr. and the late Martha Dunn Boswell. Gordon led a remarkable life filled with dedication and commitment. He graduated from Lee High School in 1968 and went on to attend LSU. Following his education, Gordon embarked on a career with the Marine Corps that exemplified his strong work ethic.

His time in the Marine Corps was a defining chapter in his life. During his first tour in Vietnam, Gordon served as a demolition expert. Upon returning home, he underwent further training and was deployed back to Vietnam for his second tour as a Recon Scout Sniper.

His service earned him several prestigious awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, and the Purple Heart.

After retiring from the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal, Gordon went on to work in the oil and chemical industry for many years. Later in life, he began working for LATX Operations company as a Safety and Health Instructor. Outside of his professional endeavors, Gordon had a passion for hunting and fishing.

Gordon Boswell's legacy of hard work, dedication to service, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl L. Boswell; devoted daughter, Fara R. Allen; granddaughter, Anna Sutterby (Caleb); and great-granddaughter, Allie Sutterby.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Jr. and Martha Boswell; son, Brett L. Boswell; and his best friend since first grade, David K. Newman.
