Glenda Bridges

Glenda went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, in Hammond, Louisiana.  She was a native of Oxford, Mississippi, born to the late Hardy and Ruby Metts.  Glenda was a longtime resident of Albany, LA and later Magnolia, MS.   She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, finding treasures at thrift stores and watching the hummingbirds at her feeders.  She had a green thumb when it came to gardening, whether it was plants, flowers, or vegetables, Glenda could make anything grow and even passed that love on to her family.  She was known for her famous cornbread that she made from scratch as well as her delicious potato soup that her family will miss.  Glenda’s greatest passion in life was her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren, where she loved teaching life lessons and spending time making lasting memories that they will cherish forever.

She is survived by her sons, John Bridges and David Bridges; daughter, Rachel Bacot and husband Hollis; sister, Carrie Ott (Dennis); grandchildren, Travis Bridges (Angelle), Ben Bridges (Natalie), Eric Bridges (Jenna), Tessa McArthur (Shaun), Shaina Bridges (Andrew), Tyler Bacot (Kurtlynn), Katie Bacot, Dalton Bacot (Katelyn), David Metts Bridges Alack (Megan), William Bridges Alack (London); as well as her precious 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; son, William “Tres” Alfred Bridges III, sister, Betty Heiduck, and her brother, James Metts.

Relatives and friends invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond at 3:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Gary Dennis will be officiating the services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home.
