Gladys Gracianette Zahn

Gladys Gracianette Zahn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 87. She was born on Tuesday, May 4, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Louis Gracianette and the late Louise Darder Gracianette. Gladys was a longtime resident of both Robert and Hammond, Louisiana.

Gladys was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She dedicated many years of her life working for Dr. Burvant, where her warmth and kindness made a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike. Outside of work, she embraced life with an open heart, always ready to share laughter, conversation, and—of course—chocolate. As a proud member of the Red Hat Society, she cherished the friendships and joy that came with it.

Her generosity knew no bounds, always willing to help anyone in need. Thoughtful, loving, and dependable, she was the foundation of her family, always there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, offering unwavering support and endless love. She had a sharp wit, a contagious laugh, and a way of making every gathering special. New Orleans was her happy place, having fun and dancing was her passion, and hosting holiday celebrations was her greatest gift to her family—creating traditions and memories that will be cherished forever.

Gladys is survived by her five sons: Clarence (Shelley), Randy (Micki), Gregg, Kenneth, and David (Cindy); 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Von Behren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Louise Gracianette.

Gladys will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will never be forgotten.

A mass service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 30300 Catholic Hall Rd, Hammond, LA 70403. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, location to be determined.
