Gilbert Roy "Bungalo" Davis

Gilbert Roy "Bungalo" Davis peacefully passed away at his Loranger residence on Saturday, May 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75. He was born on September 14, 1948, in Independence, Louisiana to the late Ruby and James Davis. He was a shy, kind-hearted, giving gentleman who was always ready to help anyone who needed it, even if they didn't ask for it, he was there ready to lend a helping hand. Bungalo worked hard at everything he did, from being a great family man to operating his heavy equipment at work, he always gave 110% and instilled that same mentality to his children and grandchildren. He made sure that all of his grandchildren were given their very own nicknames and picked on them every chance he got to help build their character. He was a Godly man who was strong in his faith and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Everyone has their flaws, and his was the gift of being hardheaded and stubborn, but it sure came in handy when he had the opportunity to fix anything that was given to him. Side note: he thought Dr. Tichenors Mouthwash was the cure to any ailment and had a bottle for every pocket! Bungalo was a loving husband and father, caring grandfather, wonderful brother, and friend to all who knew him and is already deeply missed.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 54 years, Linda Ford Davis; children, Robert Davis (Heidi), Rachee "Chee" Jenkins (Bruce), Amanda Davis (Roy), and Jason Davis (Jackie); grandchildren, Bethanie Jenkins Soulier (Bowen), Aaron Jenkins (Virginia), Juliana Jenkins, Briella Jenkins, Copen Davis, Casen Davis, Jaycelynn Davis, Jaystin Davis, Jaykan Davis, Brent Davis and Riggin Davis; great-grandchildren, Victoria Parish, Kane Jenkins, Nava Jenkins; as well as one sister, Angela King.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ruby Thompson Davis Goss and James Robert Davis Sr.; sisters, Bobbie Davis Fortenberry, Betty Davis Ingram, Vivian Davis McIntyre, and Linda Davis Jenkins; and his brothers, James Robert Davis Jr., and Donald Ray Davis.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Scottie Smith will officiate the services with burial to follow in Loranger Community Cemetery.
