Gerrit James Sanchez Sr.

Gerrit James Sanchez Sr., of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, formerly of Kenner passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at the age of 74. He was born on Monday, August 19, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Gerrit was head of security at North Oaks, he was also an insurance agent for many years.

Gerrit is survived by his son, Gerrit Sanchez, Jr., son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Melissa  Sanchez; sister, Carol Smith; brother, Joseph Sanchez; grandchildren, Stephen Sanchez, Hanna Sanchez, and Bayli Sanchez, great-grandchildren, Derrick and  Dominick.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary James Sanchez, parents, Joseph and Carolina Sanchez, brothers and sisters, Joyce, Henry, Margie and Jimmy.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna Louisiana.
