Gernon "Brother" Edward Truxillo, age 78, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He retired from Regional Transit Authority after 40 years of dedicated service. After retirement he moved with his wife, Kathleen, to Lumberton, Mississippi 18 years ago, where they lived next to their neighbors and best friends, Rita Varnado, and loved every minute of it. Brother was known to be the life of the party, who always had everyone laughing from his jokes and silly antics. When he wasn't clowning around at the family gatherings, he was often found fishing or outside working on his green thumb skills in his garden or maintaining his beloved pond. With his outgoing personality, he made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. Brother was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him and is already deeply missed.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 42 years, Kathleen Truxillo; children, Jill Truxillo (Kyle Daigle), Dennis Truxillo (Suzanne); step-children, Caye Mitchell Klotz (Fred), Cory Mitchell, Sr. (Barbara); grandchildren, Norman Bonck (Mallory), Lauren Landry (Jared), Nicole Truxillo, David Truxillo, Jr., Triston Truxillo and Preston Truxillo; great-grandchildren, Malik Bonck, Kyson Bonck and Elle Landry; sister, Claudia Delsa; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude and Helen Truxillo; son, David Truxillo, Sr.; step-son, Jimmy Mitchell; siblings, Rene Truxillo and Earline Fiorella; along with his brother-in-laws, LJ Delsa and AJ Fiorella.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
