George W. Bardwell, known as "Uncle George" by all who knew him, was called home to our Lord, on August 11, 2021, at the age 85. George was born to Alfred C. Bardwell and May Belle Hudgins in Robert, Louisiana. He was raised with six brothers and four sisters. As a young man he earned the nickname, "Superman", due to his perseverance and strength. He was a skilled tradesman and obtained the standing of a master carpenter, mechanic and sawyer. He married Gail Bourgeios, of Madisonville, Louisiana, and the couple had two sons, Randy and Dwight. He was a socially active man who was deeply loved by his family and friends. He possessed a deep understanding of life and countless pearls of wisdom. George was considered a legend in his lifetime and will continue to be a legend in his departure. He is survived by his sons, Randy Bardwell and Dwight Bardwell; three grandchildren, Ethan Bardwell, Cheyenne Bardwell, and Clay Bardwell, all of Ponchatoula; and two brothers, Calvin "C.D." Bardwell, of California and Carl Lewis Bardwell, of Ponchatoula. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred C. Bardwell and May Belle Hudgins; four brothers, Percy Bardwell, Nelson Bardwell, James "Buckshot" Bardwell, and Milton Bardwell; four sisters, Alice Bickford, Lillian Cooper, Agnes Montgomery, and Sarah Stanga. A memorial service for George will be held at a later date.
