George Sidney Cortez

George S. Cortez peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in Hammond, LA, at the age of 95. He was born to Herbert Sr. and Leoncia Kraemer Cortez on July 7, 1928, in Ponchatoula, La. He was a resident of Hammond, LA.

George was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herbert Cortez Jr., and two sisters, Velma Simon and Sylvia Sterken.

He is survived by his brother, Gerald Cortez (Frances), and sisters, Marion Vicknair (Tommy), Clara Meissner, and Rosemary Cone (Malcom, Jr.), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
