Genell Winch Morgan Stevens

Genell Winch Morgan Stevens, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the age of 87. She was born and raised in Pecan Island, Louisiana on August 9, 1935. Genell grew up in the Methodist church and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ponchatoula.

Genell was preceded in death by her 1st husband Melvin Morgan; 2nd husband, William Stevens; father, Gilbert Winch; mother, Lona Vincent Winch; and brother, Gene Winch.

She leaves behind one son, Timothy Morgan (her pride & joy) and his wife Patricia Darnell Morgan; grandchildren, Crystal Morgan, Kelly Morgan, Ashley Hewitt and her husband, Tony Hewitt, and Aaron Crane; great grandchildren, Alyssa Sullivan and her fiancé Chris O'Brien, Danica Threeton (daughters of Crystal Morgan), Megan Whitecotton, Corrin Wallace, Raegan Whitecotton, Tyler Whitecotton,  Asher Whitecotton, Micah Whitecotton (children of Kelly Morgan & Duane Whitecotton), Brandon Hewitt, Ashton Hewitt, Brooke Hewitt, and Katie Poston (children of Ashley & Tony Hewitt); and great-great grandchildren, Aiden and Christian O'Brien (children of Alyssa Sullivan and Chris O'Brien).

Genell was a woman with a heart of gold. The most generous loving woman you could ever meet. She loved to travel, and many times took all of us (yes, everyone mentioned above) along with her! She loved to crochet, play the piano, put together photo albums of all her many adventures, and drive her big ole motorhome on camping trips. Genell loved her family more than anything, and we could all say, "We love how she loved us!" We were so blessed that God picked her to be our person! She meant the world to each and every one of us! Rest easy in the arms of not only Jesus, but in the arms all that have been waiting for you! We love you. We will miss you!

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. 

A Graveside Service will be held at Pecan Island Community Cemetery, LA - 82, Pecan Island, Louisiana 70548 on Monday, August 7, 2023,  at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Deirdré Allen officiating.
