Gayla Beth Strahan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Gayla Beth Meyers Strahan who went to Heaven on Friday, November 29, 2024, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 53. 

She was born on Wednesday, February 3, 1971, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Patsy Cady Meyers and the late Gustave Meyers. Gayla grew up in Lake Charles where she graduated from Iowa High School. Gayla later earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from McNeese State University. Most recently she served as Project Administrator at AHEC (Area Health Education Center). 

Gayla was a resident of Ponchatoula, LA for 20 years where she resided with Wade and raised their son, Cody. Gayla was a member of Westside Baptist Church and is remembered for being a woman of deep faith, love of family, and loyal friend. She is also remembered for her laughter, dancing, and giving spirit. Her cooking and baking were always a must at any family or friends gathering. She loved the outdoors, especially fishing with Wade. She was an avid sports fan and loved attending LSU football, baseball, and women’s basketball games; New Orleans Saints football games, and Houston Astro’s baseball games.

Gayla is survived by her husband, Wade Strahan; son, Cody Strahan; sisters, Sherry Meyers, Robbin Oliver(Bob), and Susan Soileau(Curtis); father-in-law, Arthur Ray Strahan; brothers-in-law, Troy Strahan and Dickie Strahan(Dorcas), Nieces and Nephews, Ashli Buchtler (Sean), Curtis Soileau Jr., Cody Soileau(Stephanie), Courtni Smith (Sam), Shane Meyers, Alexis Meyers, Haleigh Meyers, Jade Meyers, Peyton Strahan, Gabby Strahan, Hayden Strahan Parker Strahan and Bree Strahan and numerous Great Nieces and Nephews and special friends, Gail Wilson and Marybeth "ReRe" Wells.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gustave Meyers; mother, Patsy Cady Meyers; siblings, Patrick Meyers and Rhonda Meyers; and mother-in-law, Donnis Strahan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Westside Baptist Church, 40375 W I-55 Service Road, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM until the funeral begins at 2:00 PM.
