Garry M. Dampeer

Garry M. Dampeer, of Amite, Louisiana, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family after a 28 year battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the age of 68. He was born on September 30, 1953, in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of the late Clifton "Smokey" M. Dampeer and Wilma Holland Dampeer McDonald. Garry loved hunting, fishing, and spending his time outdoors but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Garry was so proud of his children and grandchildren and he cherished his time with them.

Garry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan Rouse Dampeer; daughter, Tracy Dampeer Fletcher and husband John Leslie Fletcher Jr.; son, Clint M. Dampeer and wife Dana Mixon Dampeer; and grandchildren, Lakin Fletcher, Cade Fletcher, Patience Dampeer, Cody Singleton and wife Allison Richard Singleton, and Colton Singleton.

In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his brother, Clifton "Tony" W. Dampeer.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

A Funeral Service will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula on Saturday at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
