Frederick John Bourliea

BOURLIEA, Frederick Sr., age 93, passed away peacefully on September, 28th 2024, surrounded by family. As proud member of the United States Marines, he served valiantly during the Korean War, embodying the courage and dedication that marked his life. As an accomplished ironworker, he played a vital role in constructing iconic structures across Louisiana, including the New Orleans Superdome. He was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his craft.

As a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, Frederick found joy in volunteering and serving his community. He served as a Eucharist Minister at both St. Dominic and Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and also delivered Holy Communion to the sick. His generous spirit and passion for helping others was felt anytime he was in your presence.

A family man at heart, Frederick cherished his wife, Joyce Presetenback Bourliea, and took immense pride in his children: Deborah Peters (Roger), late Frederick Bourliea Jr. (Brenda), Ramona Belser (Dan), and Wayne Bourliea (Ann). He was a beloved grandfather to thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren who adored him, often gathering for unforgettable hayrides that became cherished family traditions.

In his free time, Frederick enjoyed fishing, hunting, planting large vegetable gardens, and spending weekends at the family camp in Honey Island Swamp. His warmth and laughter made every occasion special, and his legacy of love and support will be deeply missed.

Frederick is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the support received during this difficult time especially from Modern Health Hospice and Home Instead who were angels sent from heaven.
