Fred Straughan

Fred Straughan, of Loranger, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by family. He was born on Saturday, August 31, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of the late Stephen S. Straughan Sr. and the late Florence G'Selle Straughan.

Fred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mattie Rainey Straughan; daughter, Darla Straughan and Kenneth Benedict; Son, Norwood Straughan and wife, Kathy; brother, Steve Sidney Straughan Jr. and wife, Connie; sister, Linda Brister; and grandchildren, Linzy Capseboscq Alston and husband, Josh, Reese Straughan, and Mary Morgan Straughan. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Randy Smith officiating.

 Interment will follow at Loranger Community Cemetery in Loranger, Louisiana.
