Frank A. Reno, Sr. “Dunk” of Manchac, LA passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022, at his home. Dunk was born on Pass Manchac, LA on September 8, 1929 to Charles Paul and Nancy Elizabeth Reno. He was born on his family’s houseboat and delivered by his father, who was a medic in British Boer War in South Africa.  Dunk wore many uniforms throughout his long life. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II, a former Warden with the Tangipahoa and St. John Sherriff’s Departments, a retired Agent with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, and owner of Reno’s Seafood in Manchac. When Dunk was not working in his seafood market, he was enjoying one of his greatest life pleasures of being outdoors. He loved being on his boat, walking in the swamps, fishing, and hunting. Another of Dunk’s greatest pleasures was cooking. He was renowned for his turtle sauce picante`. He never had a problem finding people to feed because everyone knew there would be plenty of delicious food to eat while listening to Dunk tell stories and share his wisdom. Dunk is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret B. Reno; sons, Frank Reno, Jr. (Priscilla) and Hayden Reno (Debbie); daughter, Katrina Black (Curtis); step son, Raymond Bordok (Karen); brother, Jack Reno; sister, Pauline O`Connor; grandchildren, Claudette Reno, Chasity Reno, Hayden Reno, Blake Reno, Kurtis Black, Kirstie Black, Miranda B. Caskey, and Natalie Bordok; great grandchildren, Michael Erwin, Samantha Whitaker, Caleb Milton, Hannah Reno, Blakelyn Reno, Beckham Reno, Bryar Black, Preston Black, Trenton Schexnayder, and Shayla Caskey; great-great grandchildren Asher Whitaker, Emery Whitaker, and Kane Erwin. In addition to his parents, Dunk is preceded in death by a son, Kerry Reno; grandson, Joshua Reno; and 22 siblings. Dunk was one of a kind. He was the life of a party and never met a stranger. He tried to help anyone who needed it. He taught his family to work hard, love and respect the outdoors, and of course how to cook. His legacy will live on through those who loved him dearly. He will be missed by many. Per his request, no formal services will be held; however, a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.
