Francis Arthur (“Artie”) Jones

Surrounded by his loving family, Francis Arthur (“Artie”) Jones, passed away peacefully at his home in Robert, LA on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024.  Artie was born in Albany, LA, on August 19, 1941, to Ira Tyler Jones and Nora Guagliardo Jones. He lived most of his life in the Hammond area.

Surviving Artie are his wife, Patricia Traylor Jones; sons, Brian Joseph “B. J” (wife Vicki), Paul Vincent of Hammond, Francis Arthur II “Artie II” (wife Manti) of Brookline, Massachusetts; daughters, Tyra Ann Jones, Carrie Ann Granier (husband Michael).  He cherished his nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Hunter, Mia, Cora, and Vincent Jones, Randi Lynn Yokum, Cade, Tory and Jordan Granier.  Great-grandsons, Kainnon Parker and Ryder Jones; along with seven great-granddaughters, Seyla and Saige Touchard, Lily, Lyla, Leia, Amelia and Magnolia Granier brought immense joy to his life in recent years.  Artie is also survived by his only sibling, Annette Johnson and her husband, Bryan “Butch” Johnson.

After graduating from high school in 1961, Artie trained at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS, after which he served six years in the Louisiana Air National Guard at the Hammond Airport base.  He received an honorable discharge in 1967.

Artie retired in 2008 from a career mostly spent selling parts in automobile dealerships. 

Artie faithfully attended Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond throughout his life and was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
