Frances "Fritz" Recile Gardner

Frances "Fritz" Recile Gardner, age 76 of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on Tuesday, August 3, 1943, in Hammond, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Joe and Frances Schillace Recile.

Frances was a faithful member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

She retired from Rossie's Furniture Store after more than 35 years of service. Mr. and Mrs. George Rossie, along with Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Rossie were like family to her. She was very proud of her Italian family heritage and traditions. She loved to reminisce about her childhood with her cousins on both the Recile and Schillace side. She loved being in her home and enjoyed working in her yard.

Frances is survived by her loving daughter & son-in-law, Michelle and David Sterken, grandson, Grant Sterken, granddaughter, Olivia Sterken, and longtime companion of 38 years, Larry Gatlin.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Sam "Jelly" Recile.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial for Frances at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00 AM, with Fr Robert Merced, OP officiating.

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hammond, Louisiana.
