Frances Downey Travis Brown, of Shreveport, Louisiana and formerly of Ponchatoula, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the age of 95. She was born on October 24, 1925, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the son of the late Frank Downey Travis and Frances "Fannie" Edwards Travis. She grew up in Ponchatoula and went to school there throughout her life. Frances attended Southeastern Louisiana University and was the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Queen when she was around 21 years old. She was a housewife until her husband passed away and then worked at the Lakeshore Elementary School in Monroe, Louisiana. Frances moved to Shreveport in the early 90âs to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her children, Gary Brown, Linda Berry and husband Philip, and Keith Brown and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Jennifer Kordisch and husband Erich, Kristin Boudreau and husband Mark, Shannon Brown, Elizabeth Brown, Lisa Ann Brown, and Melissa Renee Brown; great grandchildren, Alex Boudreau, Kinsley Boudreau, Luke Kordisch, Chase Kordisch, and numerous others; nephew and niece, Travis Downey Barker and Faith Vinyard; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Brown, son, Daryl Brown, and sisters, Lucia Jane Barker and Sarah Travis Vinyard.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Wetmore Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
