Eugene "Sarge" Louis Short

Eugene "Sarge" Louis Short  passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the age of 85.  He was born on Monday, April 8, 1935 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Sarah Doerr and the late Everett Eugene Short.  He was a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Frances Short; children, Cynthia Ann Short-Scaruffi (James), Eugene Everett Short (Melissa), Charles Edwin Meyers, and Kathy Lynn Meyers-Short-Acosta; grandchildren, Johnathan Larry Dix (Heather), Donavan Matthew Fernandez, Sawyer Lucas Short, Troy Joseph Welp, Skyler Zachary Meyers, Dayna Michelle Zrinski, and Robert Nilo Acosta, Jr.; and one great-grandson, Johnathan Larry Dix, Jr..

He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Eugene Short; his mother, Sarah Doerr; and his granddaughter, Kayla Ann Melerine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, August 15, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  

Interment will follow in Sandhill Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
