Eugene N. Sharp

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eugene Nelson Sharp, Sr., a hardworking man who found joy in the simple things like working on cars, spending time with family, and enjoying his favorite western shows. Eugene passed away on Monday, September 16, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, love, and quiet strength.

Born in Ramsay, Louisiana, Eugene had a lifelong passion for mechanics and driving big trucks. From a young age, he could be found under the hood of a car, hands covered in grease, with a smile on his face. Whether it was working on an old engine or building something from scratch, his love for working with his hands never wavered. Eugene could often be found watching his favorite western shows, drawn to the timeless stories of bravery, independence, and hard work.

Above all, Eugene treasured his family. He loved camping and spending time outdoors, especially when it meant being surrounded by those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed.

Eugene is preceded in death by his daughters, Mary Ellen Sharp and Loma Sharp; son, Eugene Nelson “Tinker” Sharp, Jr.; mother, Emma Sharp; brothers, Daniel Sharp (Debra), Buddy Sharp (Ruth), Royce Sharp; and sister, Linda Jarrell.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori Deare (Shawn); his companion of 25 years, Eleanor Beal; step-children, Steve Anthony (Nona), Loyd Anthony (Angela), Kathy (Les) and Joseph; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alice Pierre (Joe), Dale Sharp (Marlene), Barbara Randall (Greg), Lorraine Thompson (Boyd), Michael Jarrell (Flora), and Debbie Smith (Gary); as well as many friends and family members who will always remember him for his steady presence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Lee Valley Baptist Church, 27013 Reid Road, Loranger, Louisiana, 70446, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Herman Gauthier officiating.

Interment will follow in Lee Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Hammond and Ponchatoula.
