Erwin Angus Dupont entered into eternal rest on September 9, 2024, at the age of 87. He passed away peacefully at his home in Tickfaw, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and adored wife, Joyce Jean Facio.
Erwin was born on January 27, 1937, in New Orleans to the late Theodore Alfred Dupont, Sr. and Naomi Alicia Ansel. He was raised in the lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans and graduated from Nicholls High School, then attended Delgado Community College to learn the heating and air conditioning trade to join his father and brother in the family business. He served his country by joining the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve as a Boatswain’s Mate. While in high school, Erwin met the love of his life, Joyce. They married in 1958 and moved to Carolyn Park in Arabi, Louisiana to raise their family. He went on to excel in the HVAC profession by using his talents to become a Service Manager, and later a Branch Manager, for Bryant Corporation, as well as Carrier Corporation. Prior to retirement, he served as a Field Service Manager for a local York Air Conditioning Distributor.
He was the loving father of Deborah Oalmann (David), Donald (Lisa), David (Karen) and Darren. He was a devoted and adoring grandfather to his 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Alfred Dupont, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Dupont Kuhn.
Erwin was a former resident of Arabi, Louisiana, and a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and was awarded the Order of St. Louis Medallion in 1993. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
The family would like to thank Cynthia and Sharon, as well as Renae and Rhi with The Hospice of Baton Rouge for their care and compassion.
