Ervin James Picou

Ervin James “Cotton” Picou, 92 of Hammond, formerly of Ponchatoula, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Richard Murphy Hospice House.

Ervin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and former owner of Picou Lumber Company in Ponchatoula, until his retirement in 1988.

He is survived by his children, Darrell Picou and wife, Gayla; Darlene Picou Delaune and husband, George; Maureen Picou Gugliuzza; Donnie Picou and wife, Margaret; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Picou VanVrancken.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Christine Morgan Picou; grandsons, Hudson Picou and Jordan Gugliuzza; son-in-law, Vince Gugliuzza; parents, Alcide Picou and Evelyn Sanchez Picou and numerous siblings.

A visitation will be held at Harry McKneely Funeral Home, Hammond, on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Garden, Hammond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Richard Murphy Hospice House, 1109 South Chestnut Street, Hammond, Louisiana  70403.
