Ernie Lee Jones

Ernie Lee Jones, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born on September 27, 1952, in Independence, Louisiana, the son of the late Leonard Leon Jones Sr. and Lillian McCloud Jones. Ernie worked as a carpenter for many years before attending school to become a real estate appraiser. He appraised homes in the Tangipahoa and New Orleans areas and was respected and well known for his work. Ernie will be remembered as someone that never met a stranger and would do anything for anybody, turning no one away. He was so joyful and loved people, and especially loved his family.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne Locicero Jones; son, John Paul "J.P." Jones and wife Timberly; sisters-in-law, Nellie Marie Jones and Linda Chandler; brother-in-law, Joseph "Joey" Locicero Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his siblings, Leonard Jones Jr., James L. Jones, Janie Perez, and Sue Borders; father- and mother-in-law, Joseph Locicero Sr. and Louise Locicero; sister-in-law, Vickie Nickens; and numerous nieces and a nephew.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am.

Entombment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hammond, Louisiana.
