Elma Rose Schexnaydre Lavergne

Elma Rose Schexnaydre Lavergne, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020, at the age of 88. She was born on December 27, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Elma Rose was a loving mother, a devout Catholic, and a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. She retired as a Support Enforcement Services officer from the State of Louisiana after over 15 years.

Elma Rose is survived by her daughter, Roxanna Marie Lavergne Mize; son, Theodore J. “Ted” Lavergne, III (Bonnie); grandchildren, Michelle Schradle (Jeff), Renée M. Thomas (Chance), Rodney L. Mize, II, Theodore J. “T.J.” Lavergne, IV, and Devin Lavergne (Shelly); 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, James Anthony and Albert Thomas Schexnaydre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Theodore Joseph "Buddy" Lavergne, Jr.; parents Denis and Leone Faucheux Schexnaydre; brothers, Denis Joseph and Thaddeus Joseph Schexnaydre; and sisters, Marie Schexnaydre and Betty Jane DeMatteo.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Wednesday, July 1st from 9:00 am until 11:00am.

A Funeral Service will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula on Wednesday at 11:00 am.

Entombment will follow at Rosaryville Mausoleum in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

During the visitation and service, social distancing and wearing a face mask are strongly recommended.
