Ella Mae Harris Core

Ella Mae Harris Core, age 81 of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Landmark Nursing Center in Hammond. She was born on Tuesday, July 20, 1937, in Hammond,Louisiana, to Ernest Wallard and Edna Owens Harris. Ella enjoyed life and loved to clean, cooking and feeding anyone who was hungry, but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.  

Ella is survived by her sons, Frank G. Core and his wife Letha, Ernest W. (Will) Core and Brad W. Core and his wife Theresa, her daughters, Gwen Core Robertson and her husband Frank and Twana L.Harris and her husband Anthony, her grandchildren, Brandon, Trent, Lucretia,Rhonda, Brandy Ann, Brett, Devin, Jacy, Whitney, Megan, Christian, Heather, and Luke, also survived by numerous great and great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and close friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Wallard and Edna Owens Harris, her grandson, Ronnie J. Pinion, Jr.,her nephews, Danny Boy Richardson, Charles Dwight Hillis, IV and Roy Harris,her brothers, Norman, Floyd and J.C. Harris, her sisters, Sadie Richardson and Lillian Hillis and her former Husband, Frank W. (Sonny) Core. 

A Visitation for Ella will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Ella's Life will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.Interment will follow at New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Baptist.
