On Saturday, March 27, 2021, Ella Dean Rogers Dennison, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones at the age of 83. She left us here on Earth to receive her wings and walk with the angels. Â Ella was the matriarch of her family. She was a loving, caring and giving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Ella was a "people person" who enjoyed working with the public. She worked at Woolco til it closed and then K-Mart until her retirement. After retiring, she kept active by working at the voting polls which allowed her to see family, friends and former customers. She loved watching wrestling and rocking in her rocking chair on her daughter, Joy's back porch as she watched the birds and squirrels. Ella is free to walk again and is already dearly missed by those that loved her.
Ella is survived by her daughters, Patti Haddox, Janet Dillard (Morris), and Joy Gerald (Michael); honorary daughter, Barbara Giovingo; son, Lloyd Bassemier; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Margie Nickens and Lucille Deli; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin "Red" Dennison; parents, Stone Wall Rogers, Sr. and Olevia Melissa Crayton Rogers; 4 sisters; 6 brothers; 2 sons-in-law, Charlie Dennison and Steve Haddox; and the father of her children, her first husband, Ralph Bassemier.
