Elaine Miller Traylor

Elaine Miller Traylor, age 88, passed away at North Oaks Hospital at 7:00 AM February 23, 2022.  As we take a glimpse down memory lane to the past and reflect on the positions and achievements of Elaine beginning in an era when doors were not as wide open to women as they are today; we note she was quite a pioneer lady in her time. God was her guiding light!  Elaine was employed in the Governor’s office, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; State Police Headquarters, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Department of Labor, New Orleans and Hammond, Louisiana; first female office manager for the American Automobile Association, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; worked for Universal Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Filming Industry making movies in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans areas. Elaine was active in the business she and her husband owned: Traylor Manufactured Housing. Elaine was Public Relations Director at College Town Baptist Church, Hammond, Louisiana and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was listed in the Talent Bank of Women for the State of Louisiana; member of the Models Gild of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Member of the International Association of Personnel; member of the Louisiana State Film and Video Commission; Member of Retired State Employees Association; member of the Louisiana Department of Labor Retirees Association; member of Louisiana AFSCME Retirees Association Chapter 34 AFLCIO. Survivors include her husband, Navarre S. Traylor, Sr.; one Godchild, Kristine Elaine Cuchiara of San Jose, California; great-great niece, Olivia Tyler; great-great niece, Lillyana Melanie Carrasco of  Mira Loma, California; half-sister, Teresa Miller Jensen of Pearland, Texas; half-brother, M.J. Miller and his wife, Supreeya Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; niece, Stacy Knight Walker and husband, Timothy Walker of Pensacola, Florida; nephew, Doyle Knight of Albany, Louisiana; several step children, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. She leaves behind her cousins, Carolyn Miller and Perry Miller and several other cousins. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Exie Crowe Miller and Malcolm Jep Miller; sister, Bobbie Eloise Miller; sister, Frankie Miller Knight Thomas; sister, Johnnie Lee Miller; sister, grandparents, Tincie and Charlie Miller; aunt, Ida Stringfield Crowe; and uncle, Henderson Crowe; Aunt, Myrtle Miller; Uncle, Doyle Dude Miller; cousins, Steve Miller, Dorothy Winters; nephew, Don Chirara; great-great nephew, Jo Cuchiara.  Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 11:00 AM until Elaine’s Celebration of Life begins at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, conducted by her cousin Rev. Joey Miller.  Graveside services will follow at the Mt. Pigsah Cemetery, Mt. Pigsah Baptist Church, Mt. Hermon, Louisiana conducted by Rev. Joey Miller.
