Elaine Bourgeois Charbonnet was born June 24, 1930, in Ponchatoula, to the late Livain and Alcidie Rome Bourgeois. Â She passed away at her home in Ponchatoula, April 4, 2023. Â Elaine retired from Louisiana Power and Light Company, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, and the K.C. Ladies Auxillary. Â She was a longtime volunteer at North Oaks Hospital. Â Elaine always exhibited a positive attitude, was very outgoing, and had a smile for everyone. Â She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, traveling with her husband, and watching LSU sports. Â
She is survived by her nephews, Edgar Charbonnet, Jr., C.J. Bourgeois and Paul Bourgeois; and nieces, Gail Gitz Bosch, Linda McMahan, Phyllis Beyl, Peggy Hoover, Carolyn Pinion, Charlotte James, Lana Cronvich, and Jan Fisher. Â
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Warren Charbonnet; brothers, Earl, Norman, Hudson, and Carl Bourgeois; sisters, Mildred Davis, Addie Bourgeois, Gladys Charbonnet, and Doris Raiford; nephews, J.W. Raiford and Jerry Raiford; and a niece, Patricia Charbonnet Schmit. Â
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Thursday, April 6, 2023, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, at 11:00 a.m. Â The rosary will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the visitation at 9:00 a.m. until services conducted by Deacon Larry Melancon. Â Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
