Eileen McSpadden Ducote, of Albany, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the age of 66. She was born on February 10, 1960, in Metairie, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Jack Leo McSpadden and Vivian Gordon McSpadden.
Eileen is survived by her five children, Brandy Landry (Douglas), Tonya Heffner, Holly Heffner, Justin Ducote (Catherine), and Jesse Ducote (Nina); grandchildren, Kristin (Jacob), Katelynn (Matthew), Kaine, Baylon, Reneé, McKenzie, Kellon, Blaze, Keaton, and Vayda; great grandchildren, Kamdon, Westyn, Kenlie, and Dove Eileen; siblings, Maxine Steveson, Colleen Alleman, and Shawn McSpadden (Renee); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Ducote, brother, Patrick McSpadden, aunt, Rose Gordon, and godchild, Jamie McSpadden.
Eileen was known as family to everyone who crossed her path: everyone’s Mom, MawMaw, aunt, and safe place. She welcomed any and everyone with open arms. Over the years she gathered “extra” children, grandchildren, and loved ones whom she claimed as her own. She had a gift for making people feel like they belonged. To know her was to love her, and she loved so easily and so fully.
She was the kind of MawMaw who made sure every grandchild felt noticed, appreciated, and deeply loved. She was the person anyone could go to when they needed comfort, guidance, or simply someone who cared. Her life revolved around her family, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. She found her greatest joy in cooking for the people she loved; she was an exceptional cook.
Eileen loved being outdoors. She loved fishing and spending time at the family fishing camp. This is where she earned the name “Redfish Queen.” She enjoyed sitting on her deck with a frozen coffee as well as watching hummingbirds from the front porch, tending to her flowers, feeding her chickens, or cutting grass. She was always surrounded by family members and pets.
She had a wonderful laugh and a playful sense of humor. She adored new pajamas and blankets and could never have too many. She was witty, fun, and full of personality, yet equally nurturing, understanding, and loving; she was the perfect blend.
Many described her as an “angel on earth,” and it was true. Her heart knew no bounds. She loved in a way that was unforgettable. She carried her family through every hardship. She was the glue, the center, the heart of her home. Her kindness, warmth, and welcoming demeanor were unmatched. Her house was a safe, inviting place that drew people in, a reflection of the love she poured into every part of her life.
Even in the face of loss and illness, her love never wavered. She spent her life taking care of others, giving all she had and more. She was cherished by all who knew her, and her absence leaves a tremendous void, but also a deep desire to carry on her legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family.
