Edwin Royal Lipscomb, III was called home to his Heavenly Father on August 7th at his home in New Orleans, LA. following a brief illness.  He was a devout Christian who praised his Lord everyday  He was 57 years old.  Edwin was born October 10th, 1963 in Hammond, LA.  

He attended Southwood Academy, Holy Ghost, and Hammond High School.   Edwin loved sports and he played football and baseball in his younger years.  He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan.  He attended every game when his schedule allowed.  Edwin enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and spending time with them .

Edwin worked in the film industry as a Location Manager for more than 25 years.  He started his career in Los Angeles working as extra in movies and then concentrating on the location management. While in Los Angeles he worked on big productions such as Speed and also the much loved television series Columbo.  In 1996, Ed returned to his home state to become the Louisiana State Film Commissioner.  During his term, he was instrumental in laying the groundwork for what has become thriving film industry in Louisiana.  After his term in office, he continued to work on films in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.  He was a strong voice in the growth of the film industry in Shreveport where he eventually moved and lived there for many years.  He brought several movies to Hammond including The Highwaymen and Beautiful Creatures.  Ed was nominated for Outstanding Locations in a Period Film by the Location Manager Guild International.  He was working on a film in New Orleans at the time of his death.  

Edwin is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Odom Lipscomb, whom he adored and considered his soulmate for life, his parents Edwin Lipscomb, Jr. and Pam {Stepmother} and Carla Mizell .  He also leaves behind his only daughter Laurah Lin Lipscomb, his stepsons Joel and Jeremy Roesner,  his sister Wendy Bourgeois and husband Carl Lee,, brothers Darrin  Lipscomb and wife Claudia and Jonathan Lipscomb.  Grandchildren Polo “Trase” Mouton III, Eli, Noah and Luke Espitia;  nieces Carly Shannon Bourgeois, Marian and Marie Lipscomb; nephews Grayson and Christopher Lipscomb; uncles Gene Lipscomb and wife Brenda, and aunt Debbie Trobona and husband Charlie and a special cousin Geno Lipscomb, who can really tell some stories about their early days in Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Eola Lipscomb Sr.; his maternal grandparents Roy and Mary {Girlie} Mizell, and Casey Bankston; and his Aunt Lacy Jean Mizell.

Visitation for friends and family will be held Sunday August 15 from 11AM - 1PM at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond.  A funeral service will be held at 1Pm with Garland Mizell presiding.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond.
