Edward Joseph Moore Jr. was a lifelong resident of Louisiana. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away in Hammond, Louisiana, and was a longtime resident of Ponchatoula.
Edward proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career with BellSouth, retiring in 2012 after 35 years of service.
Edward is survived by his sons, Edward J. Moore III and his wife, Darrelyn, and Todd R. Moore and life partner, Janelle Parker. He is also survived by his siblings: sisters Dorothy M. Mipro and Irene M. Hallal, and brother James E. Moore.
He leaves behind a beloved family of grandchildren: Brandon Moore, Robert Moore, Alexander Moore, Benjamin Wilson, Curtis Wilson, and Allison Matherne. Gramps was also honored to have Chiara Stuven, a German foreign exchange student, whom he lovingly considered his bonus granddaughter.
Edward was a proud great-grandfather to Brantley Wilson, Lloyd Moore, Gage Wilson, Olivia Moore, Jade Wilson, and Noah Kate Matherne.
He is also survived by Judy Moore Leggett, his former wife of 37 years, as well as Cynthia Frosch (Brandon’s mother) and Robin Evans (Robert and Alexander’s mother), former daughters in law.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Moore Sr. and Elvera P. Moore; his sisters, Barbara M. Turnbull and Anita M. Stephens; and his brother, John J. Moore.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, from 10:00 a.m. until funeral services at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Michael DePhillips.
A private entombment will be held at St. Roch Cemetery #2, in the Moore family tomb, New Orleans with military honors.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
