Edward Albert Amar, Jr.

Edward Albert Amar, Jr. passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021, in Tickfaw, Louisiana, at the age of 79. He was born on Sunday, August 31, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Eddie Mae Neuwirth and the late Edward Amar, Sr. He was a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana. Edward graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelors of science in Petroleum Engineering, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and ROTC. After graduation, he joined the United States Army on active duty from 1961 -1965, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon the passing of his father in 1974, he and his brother, took over Amar Oil Company in Hammond, Louisiana. He served as the President of the Louisiana Oil Marketers Association from 1973-1974. In addition to his career in the Oil and Gas industry, he was involved in various other business partnerships throughout the state.  

Edward is survived by his wife, Janice Ann Rolling Amar; sons, Edward A. Amar III (Theresa) and Travis Rolling Amar (Jeanne); grandchildren, Edward A. "Teddy" Amar IV (Stephanie), Jessica Hung (Zach), Travis Amar, Jr., Tiffany Desselles (Jason), and Jason Byers; and brother, Darrell Amar (Margaret). A special thank you to Sandra Castro and Susan Salinas for their compassionate care.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Amar, Sr.; and his mother, Eddie Mae Neuwirth Amar.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, March 13, 2021 beginning at 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM, after which the visitation will continue until 8:00 PM. The visitation will continue at First United Methodist Church of Hammond, 2200 Rue Denise, Hammond, Louisiana 70403, on Monday, March 15, 2021, beginning at 9:30 AM until the memorial service begins at 10:30 AM.

Interment will follow in Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Gasaway, Larry Buillion, Jimmy Maurin, Grady Brame, George Solomon, Dean Hughes, Chris Moody, Bill Baker, and Chip Lavigne.

Face masks are now mandatory to attend any visitation or service at the funeral home. Thank you for your cooperation.
