Edmond Ball Brescher II

Edmond Ball Brescher II, known as EB, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 81. He was born on Wednesday, March 29, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Johanna Eames Brescher and the late Edmond Brescher I. He was a lifetime resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

EB attended Ponchatoula High School, where he excelled academically and athletically. He played football and was recognized for his outstanding talent, earning All-District and All-State honors. His success on the field earned him a scholarship to Southeastern Louisiana University, where he continued to play football and further his education. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from SLU. He served as a graduate assistant in the Physical Education department while completing his master's program.

His coaching career began at Ponchatoula High School, where he coached for two years in addition to American Legion Baseball before moving to Southwood Academy. He coached at Southwood Academy for 11 years, where he met his wife, Christine. After coaching, EB worked for 15 years managing Zemurray Gardens in Loranger, LA.

EB was an Eagle Scout, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a passionate fan of Southeastern, LSU, Southern Miss, and Yankees sports. His love for the outdoors and commitment to service were guiding values throughout his life. For over 52 years, he volunteered with the Louisiana Special Olympics, serving as the Director of Track Events, where his kindness touched the lives of countless athletes and families.

EB was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, coach and friend. He is survived by his wife, Christine Wandling Brescher; his son, Edmond Ball Brescher III “Eddie” (Lauren); and his grandchildren, Edmond Bowen Brescher, Georgia Rose Brescher, and Grace Elizabeth Brescher. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Brescher (Jill) and Sherrie Brescher Kane; nieces, Keli Kane Snelson (James), Katie Kane Graves (Mark), Jennifer Mikal Brescher, Lyn Bailey (Caleb), Jamie Booth (Blake), and Stacy Dampier (Doc); nephews, Cooper Wandling, Val Harmon, Michael Picard (Kristen), and Stephen Picard (Blythe); and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patricia W. and Michael Picard and Aleta W. and Mark Harmon.

In addition to his parents, EB is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ollie & John F. Brescher and Elizabeth & Raymond Eames; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marlin Gene Wandling and Jean Cooper Wandling; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Kane and Val Wandling.

EB was a man of integrity and generosity. He had a deep love for his family. He lived his entire life creating countless memories and friendships.
