Edith Saucier McLendon, 81 years old of Ponchatoula, went to be with the Lord at her home on July 26, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 2, 1936.
Mrs. McLendon taught many years in the Tangipahoa Parish School System and retired as principal of Perrin Early Learning Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, served as Past Matron of the Nova Stella Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #36, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and the American Legion Auxillary, Ponchatoula. She was loved by her family and friends and will forever be in their hearts.
She was survived by her husband, Herman McLendon, five children: daughters, Vivian James Anders, Greenville, South Carolina; Betty Joy James Boshears and husband, Mark, Kingsport, TN; Cheryl James Rousseau, Ponchatoula; and sons, Keever Melvin James, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, Ponchatoula; Michael Dennis James, Sr., and wife, Colleen, Covington; step-children, Denise McLendon Ekdahl, and husband, Jim, Orrtanna, PA; Gail McLendon Bothwell and husband, Joe, Springfield, VA; Sharon Rawls and husband, Ben, Denham Springs; Sandy Johnson and husband, Brad, Ponchatoula; Timothy McLendon, Alexandria, VA; 14 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 3 step great grandchildren; a brother, Freddie Saucier and wife Eula, Lafayette; 5 nieces; and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Keever Melvin James, Sr., parents, Narceas Saucier, and Pearl Yawn Saucier, sister, Anna Saucier Pennington, brothers, Earl Saucier and sister-in-law, Estelle Thompson Saucier, Doyle Saucier, Eric Saucier and sister-in-law Mary Hill Saucier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday July 29, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Harry McKneely Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Ponchatoula on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 am, with a visitation from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
