Edith Byers Kugler

Edith Byers Kugler, age 93, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Hammond, LA, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 12, 1932, to the late James Byers and Georgie Perrilloux Byers. Better known as "Edie", she enjoyed cooking anything and everything, all from scratch. Her home was also her family farm, where she grew her own produce, including but not limited to peppers, strawberries, veggies, and more. Edie ran an in-home daycare called Family Daycare for many years. One of her favorite activities when her children were younger was to rake leaves, telling her children that Santa wouldn't come if the leaves were on the ground. Around Christmas time, everyone would stop by and grab some of Ms. Edie's famous Fudge, which will be sorely missed. In her recent years, you could often find her watching her Waltons or Little House on the Prairie. She was a Parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Edie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed.

She leaves behind her children, Curt Kugler (Karin), Mark Kugler (Sheila), Konnie Kugler Pittman (Larry), Brian Kugler, Trudy Kugler Easley (Mark); grandchildren, Anna Lopez (Eric), Brandi Kugler Courrege (Justin), Trevin Easley (Jade), Laramie Pittman (Elise), Kyle Kugler, Connor Kugler, Betsy Pittman, Mia Kugler, and Bentley Kugler; great-grandchildren, Gunner Easley, Bowdy Easley, Oakley Easley, Eleanor Chiapuzio, Oliver Chiapuzio, River Chiapuzio, Miles Courrege, Kate Racine Courrege, Aurora Lopez, Lucinda Lopez, Isidore Lopez, Beckett Pittman; along with her brother, Carey Byers (Annette).

Preceding her in death were her husband, Hebert "Izzy" Kugler; parents, James Byers and Georgie Perrilloux Byers; brothers, Leon Byers, Lawrence Byers, Richard Byers, and Mack Byers; sisters, Violet Byers Stevens and Aline Byers Lenard; great-grandchildren, Zane Easley and Briar Easley.

The family will hold a private visitation.
