Eazers "E.D." Purvis, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 71. He was born on Friday, February 5, 1954, in Independence, Louisiana.
E.D. retired from the Baton Rouge Fire Department with 30 years of service. He served the National Guard four years.
E.D. enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved sitting on his porch with a cup of coffee, enjoying the quiet moments. He was always just a phone call away, ready to help anyone who needed him. He was a man of few words but his kindness was felt by those who knew him.
E.D. is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tawana Hoover Purvis; two sons, Brad and wife Julie Purvis, Chad Purvis and girlfriend Crystal Candiotto; grandchildren, Grace, Luke, Audrey and Brandt; brother & sister-in-law, Gerald and Shereen Purvis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Purvis and Margie Anthony Purvis; brother, Donald "Donnie" Purvis; also preceded by both sets of grand parents.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday 3/31, at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond LA. 70401, from 5:30p.m. until 8:30p.m.. And on Tuesday from 9:00a.m. until an 11:00a.m. service in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in Old Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Independence, Louisiana.
The family request donations be made to the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation, 1109 S. Chestnut St. Hammond LA. 70403.
