Dorothy "Dottie" Ann Galladora

Dorothy "Dottie" Ann Galladora passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, surrounded by her family in Tickfaw, Louisiana, at the age of 79.  She was born on Saturday, December 16, 1944 in Covington, Louisiana to the late Albert and Dorothy Jenkins. She was a resident of Tickfaw, where she lived for 62 years with her husband. Dottie was the heart and soul of her family. 

She was a homemaker and kept busy doing crafts that she shared with her family. She loved to cook and always had something on the stove. You never left her house hungry and if you did, it was your own fault. Dottie was an avid music lover and enjoyed Swamp Pop music, dancing, and going to the Silver Slipper. Her most favorite pastimes were shopping and buying things for everyone but herself and eating Chinese and Hi-Ho BBQ’s with her best friend and sister, Barbara. She loved playing cards with her girls and drinking pots of coffee until all hours of the night. She was a teacher, a nurse, a cook, a friend, a work horse, a deal maker and sometimes a deal breaker. She was a MOM-preneur, but most importantly, she was the most loving angel on earth. Her life revolved around her family and she adored all her grandchildren and was the happiest when they came to visit. 

Dorothy is survived by her 5 adoring children who made up the entirety of her world, Kenneth Galladora, Mona Sykes (Eddie), Trish Cancienne (Mark), Mark Galladora (Nanci), Jennifer Galladora (Chris); grandchildren, Samuel Galladora (Wendy), Thomas Galladora (Starlet), Ryan Galladora (Jennifer), Kenneth Galladora, JR (Cherish) Fred Galladora, Heather Sisemore (Chris), Carey Hutchinson (Kayla), Brooklyn Whittington (Todd) Mallory Cancienne (Brandon), Nicholas Galladora, MaKayla Galladora (Kenny) MaKenzie Galladora (Dallas) Lathan LaRocca (Cecilia), Kaden Sanchez, Devin Sykes (Ann Marie), Jade LaCost (Corey); great-grandchildren, Eden, Skylar, Braeleigh, Brentlee, Tailynn, Ariyah, Braxton, Paislynn, Tyler, Jayla, Reese, Ryker, Paislee, Presslee, Kyler, Kambri, MaKenna, Myles, Elena, Lathon JR, Waylon, Aislynn, Chloie, Elliot, Madeline, and Charlotte. Sisters, Barbara Polezcek (Robert), and Ruth Ussery (Jack). Daughter-in-law, Judy Galladora (Samuel Jr.). She also leaves behind her two Shih Tzu’s Lila and Catalina, who she adored immensely. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel J. Galladora; son, Samuel J. Galladora, Jr.; grandson, Dustin J. Galladora; parents, Albert and Dorothy Jenkins; sisters, Geneva Jenkins, Geraldine Hardy, Shirley Vaughn, Anita Leonard, and a brother, Philip Jenkins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM until services begin at 1:00 PM.   

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Cemetery, Tickfaw, Louisiana.
