Dorothy Ann Beckman (Dot) Clegg

Dorothy Ann Beckman (Dot) Clegg woke up face to face with Christ her Savior on the morning of January 27, 2024. She was born on November 21, 1932 in Ellisville, MS to the late Rev. Ludwig Armstrong Beckman, Jr. and the late Velma Agnes Thompson Beckman. 

A resident of Ponchatoula since 1961, she was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. A. Lawrence Clegg. She is survived by her sisters Carolyn Beckman Waltman and Peggy Beckman Miller, and her brother L.A. Beckman, III. She is also survived by her four children Lauranne Clegg Shelton (husband Ray and sons Lawrence Brent Fletcher and Albert Ray  Shelton), Larry Clegg (wife Debbie and children Rachel Clegg, Heather Clegg Bartlett, Ashley Clegg Larson, Winnie Clegg, Joshua Clegg, D’Lynn Clegg, and Caleb Clegg), Roni Clegg (children Rebecca Clegg Romoser, Franklin Clegg, and Peyton Clegg), and David Clegg (wife Missy and children Chris Clegg, Grace Clegg, and Lily Clegg) and numerous nephews, nieces, and great-grandchildren.

Dot taught for many years in the Junior High School in Ponchatoula. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula for over 60 years, where she was involved with the Women’s Missionary Union and teaching children’s choirs, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. After retiring from teaching school, she enjoyed playing the piano at local nursing homes and traveling with her husband on mission trips to several other countries.

Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 West Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Friday, February 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue at First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula, 325 East Pine Street, Saturday, February 3, 2024, after 10:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Dr. David Cranford.  Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
