Donald R. Mayers

Donald R. Mayers, age 77 of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at home with his family by his side. He was born on Sunday, July 13, 1941, in Hammond, Louisiana, to Robert “Edmund” and Gertrude Mayers. Donald enjoyed life and loved working, farming and raising cows and pigs, but he especially loved spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathryn Wainwright Mayers, his sons, Donald Kevin Mayers, Kenneth "Kenny" Mayers and Keith Mayers and his wife Joy, his daughter, Karen Mayers, his grandchildren, Heidi Mayers Wolfe and her husband Ben, Kent Mayers and his wife Christina, Samantha Mayers and Whitney Mayers Green and her husband Nick, his great grandsons, Bryce, Brody and Brandt Wolfe, Brayden, Kaleb and Kolten Mayers, his step great grandsons, Zane Sticker, Brantley Anthony and Zayden Coslan, also numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Edmund” and Gertrude Mayers, his brother, Robert Mayers, his sister, Carol Mayers Faust, his great grandson, Hunter Wolfe, his nephew, John "Johnny" Erwin Naretta, and his son in law, Keith Lombas.

A Visitation for Donald will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 8:00 am until 11:00 am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Donald's Life will immediately follow Friday's visitation at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lanier Cemetery in Loranger.
