Don Van Prevost was born April 11, 1928, and died on December 15, 2020, from complications of Covid. Don was one of 17 children to Fred and Grace Prevost from Loranger, LA. Don was a retired refrigeration technician from Coca Cola, SLU, and self employed. Don was a veteran of the Korean War, and served in the United States Army as EXP M-1 CPL as a Gunner Light Artillery 844. He loved hunting, fishing and working in his garden. But most of all being with his family.
Don is survived by his children, sons, Danny, Gaylan (wife Debbie), Gary (wife Olivia), Jess (wife Eliska), Leon (wife Wendy), Danny "Bull" (wife Keeli), and daughter, Brenda Lipscomb (husband Robbie); one brother, Ken Prevost; step children, Bobby, Mike, and Jamie Amacker, Tilly DiMaggio, Beverly Herrington, Nessie Harper, Jessie Huguet, and Penny McAlister; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Ellen Shelton Prevost; daughter, Penny Prevost O'Neill, son in law, Harold O'Neill; grandson, Wesley Prevost; daughter in law, Barbara Chandler Prevost. He is also preceded by his last wife, Betty Wainwright Amacker Prevost; father, Fred Prevost; mother, Grace Prevost; brothers, Brit, Floyd, Mack, Ernest, Clarence, Marvin, Aubrey, and Raymond; sisters, Gladys, Genevieve, Bonnie, Faye, Nellie, Anna, and Dorothy.
A graveside service will be held at Prevost Family Cemetery in Hammond, LA on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 1:00 PM. Please follow Covid safety guidelines by wearing your mask.
